Thanks to the indicators and metrics provided by gemiusAudience, the process of media planning has become much easier. Below are presented definitions of the key terms directly related to measuring internet audience. There are also definitions of metrics which can be generated by means of the gemiusExplorer application.
Visitors (real users)
The number of individuals who generated at least one page view on the monitored web site (or a group of sites) within a given time period. This number represents the reach of the web site and shows the actual number of people – not computers or cookies – who visited the web site. In this way, it is possible to determine the socio-demographic profile of these people in the study.
Reach
The percentage of visitors (real users) who generated at least one page view on the monitored web site within the given time period to the total number of internet users within a given time period.
Page View
The number of page displays (WWW documents) of a given internet web site in an internet user's browser. When an internet user views a web page, this generates a Page View. The Page View is recorded through a special tracking script that has been placed in the code of the relevant web page.
The gemiusAudience study allows to calculate all the indicators mentioned above for users belonging to certain target groups (eg. woman with higher education or people at the age from 15 to 24).
The ratio of audience composition in the given target group on the selected web site to the audience composition in the given target group for the whole internet.
The indicator is expressed as a percentage; it is the ratio of visitors (real users) belonging to a given target group who visited the monitored web site, to the total number of visitors (real users) on the selected web site in a given time period.
The number of visitors who have visited all of the given web sites.
The percentage of visitors (real users) of a given web site who are also visitors (real users) of at least one of other monitored web sites (nodes).
The number of Page Views on the selected web site generated by the average Visitor from the given target group within a given time period.
The number of sessions generated by the average visitor from the given target group within a given time period.
The average time between two Page Views within the same visit, generated by the given target group on the selected web site or web sites within a given time period.
Time that the average user from the selected target group had the application running on his computer during the selected time period (“running” in this case means present in the list of active processes).
The total time spent by the average visitor (real user) from the given target group on the selected web site or web sites.
The indicator is expressed as a percentage; it is the ratio of page views generated by a given target group on the selected web site to the number of page views generated by all visitors (real users) on the selected web site in a given time period.
The total number of visitors (real users) in a given time period.
The total number of visits on the given node, generated by internet users in the given time period. Visit is an uninterrupted series of page views on a given web site executed by the same visitor, counted as a closed whole.
The total time spent by all visitors (real users) on the selected web site within a given time period. The figure is given in hours.
Expressed as a percentage, the ratio of total time spent on the selected web site by members of the target group, to the total time spent on all researched web sites by members of the target group.
